Spring Health Clinic
Block & Bridle Vets and Equine Dentist have us down on the calendar to come over to take care of your health cares and concerns. So far on the calendar we have: 3 Teeth Floats, 2 Sheath Cleanings, 2 Spring Shots. Please call Block & Bridle (970-351-7853) to get on the calendar to ensure they bring enough supplies and allocate enough time. Tell them you are with the Dead Head.

Trail Riding Etiquette - Sharing Trails - Preparing for the Trail
The clinic will cover things you may need to bring for a trail ride, for you and your horse. What to expect on a trail ride. How to be polite and safe on the trail. We will have arena obstacles and finish up with a short trail ride around the area. Bring your own sack lunch and drinks.

In addition, The Northern Colorado Quarter Horse Association will be presenting their trail riding package for anyone interested in signing up. The NCQHA puts together 5-6 trail rides throughout the summer.  The trail rides are gentle, last 3-4 hours and finish up with a potluck.  On their calendar this year are Sylvan Dale, Dun Raven, McGregor and more. Membership costs are $25 per year for the family.

Kristin Schuett (CHA Certified Riding Instructor)
Kristin will be providing 3-1 hour western horsemanship sessions. Session 1 will be ground session. The second session will focus on tack adjustment, balance, position, and cueing. The third session will cover transitions and various seat positions for the jog and trot. Select your session. We need a minimum of 2 participants per session. RSVP by May 7, 2008 -

Juilie Lorton Lorton’s Horsemanship (www.lortonshorsemanship.com)
Julie uses foundation horsemanship methods that work with all types, levels and disciplines of riding, whether English or Western. Ridden exercises may include: One rein stop, 180 & 360 degree turns, Moving the front & hind quarters, Counting cadence. Juilie structures her clinics based on the participant’s needs. We need a minimum of 4 participants. RSVP by May 14, 2008.

Shantelle Robinson-(John Lyons Certified Trainer)
Shantelle will cover groundwork, basic western horsemanship, and western pleasure. She will be covering reining techniques and be available for individual concerns. We need a minimum of 4 participants. RSVP by June 11, 2008.

2nd Annual Dead Head Arena Sorting - Special Event
Join us for arena sorting, barbeque and fun. This year promises to have a good turnout. Learn the basics of Team Sorting arena style. Think your horse is cowy? Here’s your opportunity to find out.


We will also be having our 1st Annual Tack Sale. Have tack your not using? Maybe someone else may want it.

Nicole Collins Complete Equestrian (www.completeeq.com)
Nicole will provide a basic horsemanship clinic followed up with mounted drill exercises. Nicole is experienced in precision mounted drill, trick riding, and jumping at liberty where she excelled to the highest possible divisions with the Westernaires of Golden, Colorado. She has trained extensively in reining and stadium jumping. She founded and is active in the CSU Vaulting Team. (Vaulting combines gymnastics and dance on a moving horse). We need a minimum of 4 participants. RSVP by July 16, 2008.
